Root Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on Android 4 1 1 Stock Firmware

The Verizon variant of Galaxy Note 2 has received its own rooting guide and now you can use this post to learn how to successfully get access to the phablet’s sub-system. Read all the instructions that I have listed in this post and you should be able to root your device.
Droidstyle, an XDA community member, managed to create a pre-rooted stock firmware that can be flashed directly on your device using Odin application. This is an easy to follow guide and you shouldn’t have any problems with completing it. If you want to finish the root without any problems, then you will also need to read the preparation guidelines below. These extra steps will tell you what to take into consideration and what you have to do so that you will manage to root the Android 4.1.1 stock firmware at your first attempt.
Here’s what you need to know:
  • Use this tutorial only with the Verizon variant of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with the model number SGH-I605. Don’t root any other smartphone if your device is of a different model number, as that will brick it.
  • This is a guide for advanced Android users and you should try to root your phone if you’re a novice.
  • Create a full backup of the current ROM. Also, backup any important data files so that you’ll be able to restore them after the root. NOTE: these files might be deleted in the process and only if you have a backup, you will be able to restore them back to your phablet device.
  • Sync the SMS contacts with your Gmail account.
  • Install the phone’s USB drivers. You can get them from HERE. These are drivers for the SGS3 but it will surely work for your device also.
  • Enable the USB debugging option from the Developer Options menu. This step along with the installation of the USB drivers will make sure that your device will get recognized by your computer. Do not continue to the tutorial if your phone doesn’t have the USB Debugging option enabled.
  • The files stored on your device’s internal / external sd cards will not be deleted by the root process.
  • Disable all antivirus programs from your PC so that no other app will interfere while you’re rooting the Android 4.1.1 stock firmware.
  • Don’t attempt to use this guide if you’re a novice. Read the entire post and only when you’re sure that you can complete the root, move to the next part of this post.
If you’re still unsure about the guidelines above or you cannot understand some of the steps that I’ve listed, then you should ask for more help in comments. Don’t skip any steps in the tutorial as that will result in a failed root attempt of your Note 2 device.

How to root the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on Android 4.1.1 Stock Firmware:

  1. Download the VRALJB ROM from HERE or HERE. Place the file on your PC desktop.
  2. Extract the file within the zip and place it in a folder on your desktop. You should get a file with a ‘.tar’ or ‘.tar.md5′ extension. Don’t extract the file any further.
  3. Download Odin3 v3.04 from HERE. After the download is complete you should extract the Odin zip files to the same folder as the ROM files.
  4. Power off your smartphone and then boot it into Download Mode. This can be done by pressing ‘volume down’, ‘home’ and ‘power’ buttons. When the display powers on you should see a warning message with a yellow triangle. Press the Volume Up button and boot download mode.
  5. Go to ODIN folder and launch the Odin executable. After the Odin window loads you should connect your Note 2 Verizon to computer. NOTE: Odin will now say ‘added!!’ and you can get to the next step.
  6. Go back to ODIN window and click the ‘PDA’ button. Now browse the computer for the ‘.tar.md5′ ROM file and load it into Odin; that’s the file that you extracted at step 2.
  7. Next, disable the ‘Auto Reboot’ option that is shown in ODIN. Do not edit any other default options and after that you can press the START button. This will start the root process of your Note 2.
  8. Your Note 2 Verizon will be rooted in ten minutes. Odin will display a PASS alert when the root is complete and your device will be restarted. Unplug the smartphone from your computer when the Samsung boot logo animation appears.
  9. Wait for your Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to load all files and then you should be taken to the new Android 4.1.1 VRABLJ rooted firmware home Lcd.
  10. Test the ROM and tell us in comments if you found any errors while using it.
NOTE: If ODIN doesn’t complete the root installation or it displays the ‘Fail’ alert, then you should disconnect the phone from PC. Then, remove its battery, re-insert it after 5 seconds and then repeat the entire tutorial starting with step 4. Now the root should be completed.
NOTE2: If ODIN completes the install and it shows the ‘PASS’ alert, but the phone doesn’t boot, then you will have to wipe the data from your /system partition. All apps, sms, Call logs, Contacts and all other data from your phone will be deleted, buy you will be able to force your device to boot with this new Rooted Android 4.1.1 VRALJB stock firmware. Here’s what you need to do:
  • Disconnect the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 from computer.
  • Remove its battery and re-insert it back into its place after 5 seconds.
  • Press ‘volume up’, ‘home’ and ‘power’ buttons at the same time until the Lcd powers ON. This will boot the smartphone into stock recovery mode.
  • Select ‘wipe cache’ option and confirm. Restart the phone and it should work. If it doesn’t boot after this step, then you will have to boot again into stock recovery mode and this time you have to select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’ and confirm.
  • Now select ‘reboot system now’ and wait for the phone to restart completely.
The Galaxy Note 2 Verizon variant should now be rooted and you should begin to test this new firmware. In case you cannot complete the tutorial, then you should ask for more help in comments.

Note: Tested working on the Verizon Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545), AT&T Galaxy S4 (SGH-I337) and Verizon Galaxy S3 (SCH-I535). Try it and let us know.

Thanks to all fellas at XDA who first tried out this rooting technique. This method was originally posted via XDA-Developer original thread.

Root CWM for Xolo Q700

The
Hey Guyz.. Are Youll Using Xolo Q700 and would like to grant acees to all the Applications and Download Die Hard Battery Script for extending the Xolos Capacity to increase its Battery..?? So you are at a Right Place.. I would show you how to root Xolo Q700 in very few Simple Steps..

Requirements:
  • The Xolo Q700 phone fully charged
  • Download the USB and ADB drivers for the Xolo Q700 from here and here
  • Download the Motochopper rooting utility from here
  • Download the flash tool for the recovery from here
  • Download the recovery image from here

Download the necessary drivers and tools to a folder on your desktop and extract the archives to their respective folders. First, we shall root the phone and later install the CWM recovery patch. Make sure you have administrative rights on your Windows PC before you proceed.
Install
Install the necessary driver(s)

Rooting the Xolo Q700
For this, we will need the USB and ADB drivers installed. Go ahead and install the drivers (usually one driver should work, but in certain cases, you would have to install both the drivers). To be on the safer side, install both to make your work easier. Once the drivers are installed, head over to the phone’s settings and click around 5 to 7 times on the “Build Number” in the “About Phone” in “Settings”. This will enable the “Developer Options” from where you should enable “USB Debugging”. Then head back to the “Settings > Security” and enable “Unknown sources”. Now connect the phone to the PC and let the drivers be installed for the ADB mode. Your phone is now ready for rooting. If you have installed both the drivers on the PC, make sure that the “PdaNet Desktop” utility is not running in the background. You will see the app running in the system tray. Shut it down or your phone will not be rooted. Don’t forget to do this before proceeding.
Execute
Execute Motochopper and let the exploit complete

Now all you need to do is double-click on the folder where you downloaded the files, double-click on the Motochopper folder and then again double-click on the “Run.Bat” file. This file is a DOS mode batch executable file, which will do the needful for you. Proceed with the on-Lcd instructions and your phone should be rooted in a few seconds. In case you see the procedure halted for more than 5 minutes, you should try repeating the method. If you still get stuck here, go to the “Settings > Security” and enable/disable “Verify Apps”. This should allow the Superuser app needed to be installed on the phone by the rooting script. Now run the batch file again till you see the last line stating “Exploit complete” and “press any key to reboot the phone”. Your phone should reboot automatically and your Xolo Q700 is finally rooted. Install any app that requires root permissions, such as Root Explorer or Titanium Backup, to verify that the rooting is successful.
Confirm
Confirm the rooting with an app that needs superuser permissions

Flash the CWM Recovery on the Xolo Q700
Rooting and flashing a recovery software on the phone is considered risky and will void any and all warranty on the phone. The procedure can also brick your phone rendering it dead or useless. Do this with extreme care.

Assuming that you have gathered all the necessary files for this process in a folder on your desktop, proceed with extreme caution. Also make sure that you have two files required for the recovery present on the recovery folder. These files are “recovery.img” and “MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt”. Now head on to the folder “SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1248.0.96” in the folder you downloaded all the files. Here, execute the “Flash_Tool.exe” file and bring on the utility. Now follow the steps given below very, very carefully. Do not connect the phone as yet.
Make
Make the necessary settings and give proper file names before flashing

1.In the Smart Phone Flash Tool utility, click on the button named “Scatter-loading” and feed the file named “MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt”. The window below will fill up with some vague values and text. Make sure the “Recovery” line is the only one checked.

2.Then click on the “Recovery” line and feed the file “Recovery.img” from the folder you downloaded. Usually this is done automatically, but we recommend you confirm this step.

3.Next, click on “Window” in the menu, click on “Write Memory”. Make sure the check mark is present. This will bring up an additional tab “Write Memory” in the main interface.

4. Click on the “Write Memory” tab. Here, check the box “EMMC” in the “Memory Settings” section.
Double
Double check the entries you type in before hitting that "Write Memory" button

5.Now click on the “Open Raw Data” button and feed it the “Recovery.img” file again. This file path should be seen in the “Write Parameter” field below.

6.This step is crucial. In the “Write Parameter” section, you will find two mode fields— “Begin address” and “Container Length”. Enter these two values respectively:

Begin Address:            0x2d80000
Container Length:       0x600000

The above values are “Zeros” and not the alphabet “O”. Double-check the values or copy and paste them from here. Check the Lcdshot for verification.

7.Once all these settings are done, hit the “Write Memory” button on the top. The utility will start searching for the phone.
If
If you see the green circle, the flashing is successful

8.Now turn off the phone, remove the battery and reinsert it after around 30 seconds. Do not switch it on. Just connect the switched-off phone to the USB cable.

The drivers for the EMMC mode will be installed automatically and the utility will start writing the recovery software to the phone. You can see this happening and confirm it with the change in colours and the activity on the bottom of the utility’s window. At times, the phone’s drivers take a while to be installed. Don’t panic if the utility does not continue ahead after the drivers are installed. Give it a while more, then disconnect and reconnect the phone again after the drivers are installed. Voila! The recovery utility is installed and to confirm this, you will see a small square window pop up with a bright green circle in it. It is now safe to disconnect your phone.
The Xolo Q700 in CWM Recovery mode.

To get into the recovery mode, simply press the “Volume UP + Power” buttons together for a few seconds and you will automatically land into the recovery mode. Now you can take backups and flash custom ROMs on your Xolo Q700. Sadly, there are no custom ROMs available as yet, but I am sure, there are a few developers already working on.

All iPhone 6 Rumors And Expected Features

Even though Apple is thought to have several hardware products for release this year, the next-gen iPhone is naturally hogging the spotlight. We’ve been tracking its progress for several months now, hunting for any clues or evidence regarding features, pricing and availability. But with the manufacturing process now said to be in full flow and leaks appearing on a daily basis, it’s quit hard to keep track of everything, but thanks to the infographic you see below, you can get yourself up to date in a matter of just a couple of minutes.
Accompanying the 4.7-inch iPhone will be, so we hear, a 5.5-inch variant, although given that it has also apparently been hindered by delays, it’s very unlikely to join the smaller model in its September-time release. Instead, it’ll probably manifest itself around November, although this may also be wishful thinking given that the most recent information points to an early 2015 retail, and in spite of the notion that Apple would announce both at the same time, the delay period may well see the Cupertino instead keep the so-called “phablet” release under wraps.

You can check out the very clear, well-constructed diagram of the iPhone rumor round-up below, along with all of Nowhereelse’s percentages, and as ever, be sure to leave your thoughts and comments via the usual channels.
