My Experience

The Galaxy Note 2 on AT&T has been launched, and users who wish to flash custom ROMs and other files on their devices should use this guide and add root access. It has been achieved by ‘turilo’, an XDA member.
Use this tutorial only if you’re an advanced Android user. Note that this root will activate the flash counter of your device and this will void your warranty. In order to complete the root successfully, you will first need to read the instructions I’ve listed under the preparation guide. You shouldn’t attempt to root your device in case you don’t know what you’re doing as that might result in a failed attempt and you’re device can be easily bricked in case you will flash a wrong file.
Here’s what you need to know before moving to the tutorial:

• Use this guide only to root the AT&T variant of Galaxy Note 2 with the model number I317. Do not attempt to flash these files on any other device. Check your phone’s model version by opening Settings and then the ‘About phone’ menu.
• The computer that you’ll use to root your phone should have the USB drivers for you phone installed. Without these you cannot flash the root files. You can install KIES and this program will add the necessary drivers or you can choose to download them using these links: Windows 32bit X86 USB drivers | Windows 64bit X64 USB drivers. Note that the KIES software should not be running while you’re applying the root.
• Enable USB Debugging option on your phone.
• Charge the battery of your phone so that it won’t power off in the middle of the rooting process.
• Note that we cannot be held responsible in case you brick your phone. Also, don’t blame us in case you’ll lose any data files.
• Apply all the steps that I’ve listed in this tutorial and don’t skip any of them. In case you’re having trouble in completing this guide, then you should tell us in comments and we will try to give you new solutions.

These are all the extra instructions you had to read and now you should move to the tutorial. If you hit into any roadblocks, then you should leave a detailed comment at the end of this post.

How to root the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 2 I317:

1. Download the root files for Note 2 from HERE. Save the file on your PC.
2. Connect your smartphone to your PC and then move the CWM-SuperSU zip file on its internal SD card. Disconnect the phone from PC after the transfer is complete.
3. Get the CWM recovery file from here.
4. Download ODIN 3 v3.04 from HERE. After the download is finished you should extract its contents and save it on your PC desktop. You will get 4 files.
5. Power off your smartphone and boot it into Download Mode. To boot this mode you should press at the same time ‘volume down’ + ‘home’ + ‘power’. The phone will power ON and then you can see a menu that tells you to press ‘Volume up’. Press that button to boot into Download Mode.
6. Go to ODIN folder and launch the ODIN exe file.
7. Connect your smartphone to your computer via USB cable. ODIN should say ‘Added!!’. If  ’Added’ doesn’t appear then you should try to change USB ports and then see if it works. Alternatively you can choose to re-install the USB drivers for your phone, and then return to this tutorial.
8. In ODIN, select ‘PDA’ and browse your PC for the CWM Recovery file. It is the file downloaded at step 3. Load it into ODIN and do not change any other default settings of the program. Move to the next step.
9. Press ‘START’ button and now you have to wait until the process of installing CWM Recovery is complete. After that ODIN will say ‘PASS’ and the phone will reboot. Unplug the phone from PC when that happens.
10. Now your phone will restart. Power off the AT&T Galaxy Note 2 and move to the next part of this tutorial, which tells you how to apply the final root files.

NOTE: In case ODIN freezes or it says that the installation attempt has failed, then you have to close ODIN, power off your phone by removing its battery. Re-insert the battery and then repeat the entire tutorial above until the files are installed.
Here’s how to apply the root files:

• Power off your AT&T Note 2 I317 and make sure that it is connected to your computer.
• Boot into CWM Recovery mode by pressing at the same time: volume up, home and power buttons. When the display flashes you can release the buttons.
• Use the volume rocker buttons to select ‘install zip from sdcard’. After that select ‘choose zip from sdcard’.
• Find the ‘CWM Super SU.zip’ file and confirm that you want to install it.
• When the installation is complete you need to return to the main recovery Lcd.
• Select ‘reboot system now’ and your phone will restart.
• That is it, your device has been successfully rooted.

Check to see if your AT&T Note 2 is rooted. Look for the SuperSU icon in the Android’s App drawer and if this app is listed then the device has been rooted. Now you can flash new custom ROMs and other customizing and enhancing tools that will improve the overall performance of your AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

AT&T LG G2 D800 can be updated to latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The upgrade is possible with the help of custom ROM PAC-man. The development team of PAC-man ROM finally introduced Android 4.4.2 KitKat based PAC-man ROM for AT&T LG G2 D800. Which means, you can download and install custom firmware PAC-man to update your AT&T LG G2 D800 to latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat. AT&T LG G2 D800 comes with good hardware spec, hence is capable to run PAC-man smoothly. PAC-man ROM consist various features of Paranoid Android, AOKP and CyanogenMod. PAC-man comes with various useful customization. Since, PAC-man is based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, you may like to know whats new on it. Some of the cool Android 4.4.2 KitKat features that you will enjoy is Screen Recording, Tap to Pay (Google Wallet for everyone), NFC emulation for non nfc devices, 14% less memory usage, cloud printing from Gallery, Google Home is the new Launcher, Core System Processes Trimmed, apps are efficient and responsive on all devices, the all new procstats tool details memory use, Full-screen Immersive mode, seamless change in resolution during media playback, Phone dialer got local business detection, redesigned Quickoffice and many more.
Please note, not all Android 4.4.2 KitKat feature yet ported to PAC-man ROM.

Another thing you should note, this is nightly build, hence expect some bugs in it. All bugs and issues expected to be fixed as development progress towards a stable PAC-man build.

This tutorial is only for AT&T LG G2 D800. Don’t try this guide on any other Android device. Also, we (Android Pulp Team) are not responsible for any damage caused due to the instruction given in this page. Try this at your own risk. However, it is very unlikely that your device will be damaged if you follow all the instructions as it is which are mentioned in procedure.  
Pre Requisites:
1. ROM flashing require you to wipe your internal memory data, hence you required to backup your device data. You can follow our ultimate backup guide.
2.  Make sure your device have at least 60% battery power. If your phone shut down during installation then there is good chance to brick your device.You can install an app like Battery Notifier BT Free on your Android device to check it easily.
3. You must have USB Driver Installed for AT&T LG G2 D800 in your PC. [Download USB Drivers]
4. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled otherwise its wont be possible to transfer file between PC and AT&T LG G2 D800. [Guide].
5. Your device have latest CWM version 6.0.4.4 and up or TWRP 2.6.3.1 and up installed. [General Guide]
If you done everything that we mentioned above then you are ready to follow step-by-step guide on how to install Android 4.4.2 KitKat based PAC-man ROM on AT&T LG G2 D800.

2. Google Apps [Filename: pa_gapps-stock-4.4.2-20140207-signed.zip]

How to Install Android 4.4.2 KitKat based PAC-man ROM on AT&T LG G2 D800

1. Connect your device to PC using USB cable and then copy downloaded files to the SD card of your device. Important: Don’t extract any files.
2. Disconnect USB and then turn off your AT&T LG G2 D800.
3. Now, Boot into recovery mode. To do so, press and hold Volume down & Power, when the LG logo appears release and press them again, then press the Power button three times! In recovery use Volume Keys to navigate between option and Power Key to select an option. Alternatively try this: Recovery Mode without Key Combination.
4. Perform a Nandroid backup of your existing ROM that you can restore later if this new ROM not work or you want to go back into your previous ROM. To perform a backup, select Backup and Restore, then on the next screen, select Backup again. Go back to main recovery menu after backup is complete.
5. Now, perform data wiping task. To do so, select wipe data/factory reset, then select Yes on next screen to confirm your action. Wait few minutes till the data wipe is complete. Now come back to CWM recovery main menu. Select wipe cache partition and after wiping process done, select Wipe Dalvik Cache under advance option to perform Dalvik cache wiping.
6. Select install zip from sdcard, then select choose zip from sdcard. Now, locate the PAC-man Zip file that you copied earlier in Step 1 and select it by pressing Power button. Confirm installation by selecting Yes – Install _____.zip on the next screen. The ROM installation will begin.
7. Once the ROM installation process end, repeat the step 6 but choose the pa_gapps-stock-4.4.2-20140207-signed.zip file instead of ROM zip to install the Google apps package.
8. When installation is completed, go back to the main recovery menu and select reboot system now to reboot your AT&T LG G2 D800 and boot up into Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM PAC-man. 
9. Returning to Previous ROM: To go back to your previous ROM, boot into recovery, select backup and restore then restore your previous ROM by selecting it from the list.

Tutorial For TWRP Recovery Users:

1. Connect your device to PC using USB cable and then copy downloaded files to the SD card of your device. Important: Don’t extract any files.
2. Disconnect USB and then turn off your AT&T LG G2 D800.
3. Now, Boot into recovery mode. To do so, press and hold Volume down & Power, when the LG logo appears release and press them again, then press the Power button three times! Alternatively try this: Recovery Mode without Key Combination.
4. Create a Backup using TWRP Backup Option.
5. Perform a Factory Reset (this will delete all apps and their settings and game progress). To do this, Tap on Wipe, then at the bottom of the screen do a Swipe on the ‘Swipe to factory reset‘ option.
6. Now its time to add zip file for flashing. Tap on Install, then browse to the location where you saved the files and tap on the PAC-man Zip file. Then tap on Add More Zips, and add pa_gapps-stock-4.4.2-20140207-signed.zip. Now at the bottom of the screen, do a swipe on the Swipe to confirm flash option to begin flashing.
7. When installation is completed, go back to the main recovery menu and tap on Reboot and then, tap on System to reboot your AT&T LG G2 D800 and boot up into Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM PAC-man.
8. Returning to Previous ROM: To go back to your previous ROM, boot into recovery, select Backup then through Restore option, restore your previous ROM by selecting it from the list.

Congrats! Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware based custom ROM PAC-man is now running on your AT&T LG G2 D800. Now explore the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat. [Note: If you find difficulties to run root only apps then it may be disabled. Do this then, enable developer settings first (tap the build number 8 times under about device), then enable root under Developer Settings].
